Wedding Suits

Custom-Made Wedding Suits

Your wedding day is one of the most significant occasions of your life. The suit you wear should be every bit as considered, every bit as exceptional and every bit as unforgettable as the moment itself. At Akkari Menswear, we create custom-made wedding suits for grooms across Sydney — garments designed not simply to fit your body, but to reflect who you are.

Every wedding suit begins with a private, one-on-one consultation with master tailor Edmond Akkari at our Auburn studio. All bookings are by appointment only — ensuring every client receives our complete, undivided attention from the first conversation through to the final fitting. This is not a showroom experience. It is a personal tailoring journey.

Premium Fabrics from the World's Finest Mills

A wedding suit begins with the fabric. We source exclusively from the world's most prestigious mills, giving every client access to materials of extraordinary quality:

  • Loro Piana (Italy), the benchmark for luxury suiting fabric; extraordinarily soft, refined and beautifully draped
  • Ariston (Italy), exceptional versatility across formal and seasonal applications
  • Dormeuil (France/UK) — storied heritage fabrics favoured by the world's finest tailors
  • Drago (Italy) — renowned for lightweight, high-twist wools with superb drape
  • Delfino (Italy) — fine tropical wools and Cool Wool blends, ideal for warmer weather weddings
  • VBC — Vitale Barberis Canonico (Italy) — one of the world's oldest and most respected wool mills
  • Reda (Italy) — premium Merino wools known for resilience and colour depth
  • Zegna (Italy) — iconic luxury suiting fabrics with unmatched prestige
  • Holland & Sherry (UK) — a Savile Row institution, offering some of the finest British and Italian cloths available

With over 5,000 fabrics to choose from across weights, weaves, colours and patterns, every client is guaranteed to find the perfect cloth for their garment — from the understated to the extraordinary.

Whether you are seeking a lightweight Super 120s or 130s wool for a summer ceremony, a rich Merino blend for a winter wedding or a statement fabric for a black-tie affair, we will guide you through the selection with expert knowledge and honest advice.

Tuxedos & Black-Tie Wedding Suits

For grooms seeking a formal black-tie look, we craft custom tuxedos with the same level of care and craftsmanship applied to every garment. Key tuxedo details we specialise in include:

Lapel Styles

  • Shawl lapel — the most traditional black-tie choice; a continuous curved lapel that flows from collar to button with quiet, understated elegance.
  • Peak lapel — a bolder, more structured option that projects authority and a modern edge.

Tuxedo Finishing Details

  • Grosgrain facings on lapels, buttons and trouser stripe — a ribbed, matte finish with a distinctly formal, traditional character
  • Satin facings — a lustrous, high-sheen finish for an opulent, contemporary black-tie look
  • Beltless trousers with side adjusters — the correct trouser construction for black-tie attire; elegant, comfortable and properly proportioned without a belt loop in sight

Canvassed Construction — Built to Last

Every suit and tuxedo we produce is constructed using either half-canvas or full-canvas construction — never fused. Canvassed construction means the chest piece is hand-stitched to the jacket with a floating canvas layer that molds to your body over time, improving with every wear. It is the hallmark of quality tailoring and a world away from the glued, fused garments sold in most retail environments.

Our Measuring Process

Fit is everything in tailoring — and genuine fit begins with a thorough understanding of your body. Our measurement process goes far beyond a basic chest-waist-seat. We assess:

  • Shoulder width and shoulder type — including soft shoulder (minimal or no padding for a natural, relaxed line) through to structured shoulder for a more formal, classic silhouette
  • Armhole height — a high, clean armhole allows greater freedom of movement and a sharper overall line; we cut for the individual, not a generic block
  • Collar height and neck posture — ensuring the jacket collar sits perfectly against the shirt collar without gaping or sitting too high
  • Erect and slouching posture assessment — we account for your natural standing and sitting posture, ensuring the jacket falls correctly whether you are standing at the altar or seated at dinner
  • Chest, waist, seat and thigh measurements taken at multiple points
  • Sleeve pitch and length — set correctly for your individual arm angle and wrist position

This level of detail is what separates a genuine custom-made or bespoke garment from anything off the rack. Every measurement we take is in service of one outcome — a suit that fits and moves like it was born on your body.

Personalisation & Design Details

  • Lapel choice — notch, peak or shawl; gorge height tailored to your preference
  • Single or double-breasted construction
  • Two-piece or three-piece
  • Functional buttonholes — handmade for a refined, premium finish
  • Custom lining selection from a wide range of colours and prints
  • Monogram embroidery on the inner pocket or sleeve
  • Button selection — horn, corozo or mother of pearl
